RUMEX – PLUS is a nutritional supplement probiotic consisting in a well-balanced combination of
Saccharomyces cerevisiae on a mineral substrate and in a pH-regulating excipient.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a widely used as a feed supplement
due to its composition rich in high biological quality proteins, peptides and amino acids. It also
contains a high quantity of vitamins of the B-group, probably the highest among the natural
products.
Probiotics are live, non-pathogenic microbial supplements that exert a positive influence on the
health of the host. When consumed, they improve and restore the gut flora, especially after
antibiotic treatment or after diarrhea or digestive disturbances. Proteolytic bacteria such as
clostridia, which are part of the normal gut microbiota, produce toxic substances from the
digestion of proteins.
The effects of probiotics related to direct enzymatic effects, to a modulation of the endogenous
flora or to the immune system.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae: The probiotic yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is widely used as
an efficient adjuvant against gastrointestinal tract disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease
and treatment of several types of diarrhea, in animals. Saccharomyces cerevisiae expresses
significant sucrase and some isomaltose activity but no lactase activity. Saccharomyces
cerevisiae exerts its protective mechanisms by binding and neutralizing enteric pathogens or their
toxins and, by reducing inflammation. It can reduce the number of Escherichia coli living in the
gut. The use Saccharomyces cerevisiae may result in a positive combined effort to fight specific
diseases.
Carbonate and bicarbonate: carbonates and bicarbonates are buffers. Buffers are weak acids
or alkalis that resist changes in pH. They are added to diets to complement the buffering effect of
saliva and neutralize ruminal acidity thus reducing the risk of acidosis in cattle fed starch-rich diets
or acidic silages and decrease the incidence of bloat. Buffers as feed additives include sodium
bicarbonate, limestone (calcium carbonate), sodium bentonite, and magnesium oxide
The main
mode of action of buffers involves increasing pH or resisting a change in ph. Higher pH values
facilitate fiber digestion leading to increased acetate to propionate ratio in the rumen. They also
enhance water intake, ruminal fluid outflow, fiber digestion and milk fat synthesis.
Sodium modulates extracellular fluid volume and acid-base balance. Sodium plays an
indispensable role in the ATPase Na+ -K+, and is part of the salts that exert a buffer function at
ruminal ph.
RECOMMENDED USE
- Probiotic effect.
- Stabilization and improvement of the ruminal function.
- Increase the feed intake and Feed conversion ratio (FCR)
- Restauration of the gut flora.
